  2. Thanks a lot for the links to the essay and the course. It is interesting how gender is treated in different languages. Tamil has a common gender too, but in certain communities, the common gender words are exclusively used as masculine. Then it is interesting to hear Bongs speak in hindi (for some reason they love to show off their hindi) and blunder with linguistic gender. In Bambayya hindi, everything is masculine, singular and present tense. I do not get the gender of objects correct in my hindi. It was more recently that someone explained the difference between tu and tum to me.(I had been using them interchangeably).
